Elbit Systems has introduced TRIDENT, a lightweight and modular target acquisition suite designed to support short and medium-range dismounted ISTAR missions. Built as a man-packed system operating on a single tripod, TRIDENT is remotely controlled through a host computer and is engineered to deliver next-generation accuracy, reliable intelligence and rapid fire support for forces operating at the tactical edge.

The system’s electronic design enables continuous field operation while maintaining a compact and mobile footprint. Its AI-driven approach and wide field of view provide improved situational awareness for units that need fast target detection and precise coordinate generation. TRIDENT is intended for a broad set of users, including Special Forces, forward observers, forward teams, weapon guidance teams, MFCs and JTACs. Through accurate coordinate production that meets NATO standards, the suite supports precision target acquisition across a range of battlefield environments.

One of TRIDENT’s central advantages is its passive operating mode. By eliminating the need for active emissions during target acquisition, the system allows operators to remain concealed while working in contested or threat-heavy environments. This reduces exposure and helps maintain survivability during reconnaissance, fire support planning and real-time target designation. TRIDENT can operate as a standalone asset or be fully integrated with existing Battle Management Systems, giving militaries flexibility in how they deploy and scale the capability. Elbit offers the suite as a complete package or as individual subsystems tailored to customer requirements.

The system’s key features include CAT1 passive target acquisition for stealth operations, a 70 millijoule laser target designator rated in compliance with STANAG 3733 for ranges up to 10 kilometers, and day and night see-spot functionality with spillover alerts that support safer and more controlled designation. The interface is built for simplicity, helping teams accelerate their sensor-to-shooter process without compromising accuracy.

TRIDENT is positioned as a modern tool for ground and air elements that require a compact yet capable ISTAR and fire support solution. Its design reflects the growing demand for modular systems that allow forces to collect intelligence, designate targets and deliver precision effects while maintaining a low signature. For militaries seeking to shorten the time between detection and engagement, TRIDENT offers a field-ready suite that fits into the evolving requirements of today’s digitized battlefield.
