IWI has unveiled a new line of reduced back-pressure suppressors designed for the full range of 5.56×45mm and 7.62×51mm weapon platforms, from rifles to machine guns. The systems have already been delivered and are in operational use, according to the company.
The new suppressors, developed and produced in Kiryat Gat, were built using Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), a 3D metal printing process that allows for intricate internal geometries and improved flow control. This technology enables the inclusion of an internal bypass channel that, combined with a streamlined baffle design, delivers high sound attenuation while significantly reducing back pressure — even under rapid or full-auto fire. IWI says the design preserves accuracy and reliability across firing modes.
Constructed from aerospace-grade Inconel, the suppressors are engineered to withstand extreme temperatures exceeding 982°C (1,800°F) and resist erosion and cracking over thousands of rounds. They also integrate with IWI’s Quick Detach Flash Hider, which uses the company’s UZILock mounting system for rapid and secure attachment across weapon types.
“This new line of suppressors reflects IWI’s broader commitment to advancing battlefield survivability and operational performance through innovation,” said Ronen Hamudot, Vice Chairman of the SK Group, which owns IWI. “By leveraging cutting-edge manufacturing and materials science, we’re equipping forces with scalable solutions that meet today’s operational demands — from counter-terror operations to large-scale conflict.”
The new suppressors continue IWI’s focus on field-ready durability and precision, addressing long-standing operator concerns around back pressure, fouling and point-of-impact stability. By integrating additive manufacturing techniques, the company can produce more compact, efficient suppressors with complex internal structures optimized for different calibers and firing patterns.
IWI, part of the SK Group, is the main supplier of small arms to the Israel Defense Forces and Israeli Police, and its weapons are in service with military, law enforcement and special forces units in over 60 countries. Known for the UZI, Tavor and Negev weapon families, the company continues to expand its portfolio with next-generation systems designed for modern combat environments.
