In one of the largest defense deals ever awarded to an Israeli drone manufacturer, UVision Air has signed a $982 million multi-year agreement with the U.S. Army to supply its Hero 120 loitering munitions, alongside training and maintenance services. The contract, announced jointly with Maryland-based defense company Mistral Inc., will see the first deliveries begin in early 2026.
Under the agreement, Mistral will serve as the prime contractor, managing system integration, project oversight, and support for U.S. forces. UVision’s role will center on manufacturing and technology delivery through its U.S. subsidiary, UVision Inc., based in Stafford, Virginia, which operates two production facilities dedicated to American military needs.
Founded in 2011 in Israel’s Emek Hefer industrial park by veterans of the IDF and Israel’s defense industries, UVision has positioned itself as a leader in the rapidly expanding field of loitering munitions—autonomous aerial weapons that can hover above the battlefield before striking selected targets. The company’s Hero family of systems ranges from lightweight tactical platforms to long-range strategic weapons, with modular designs adaptable to a variety of missions across land, sea, and air.
The Hero 120, selected for the U.S. Army program, is a mid-range, combat-proven system with an operational radius of up to 60 kilometers and a one-hour endurance. It can carry a 4.5-kilogram warhead and features EO/IR sensors for target acquisition in all conditions. Operators can control it manually or allow autonomous navigation with a “man-in-the-loop” final decision mode, ensuring human oversight before engagement. The system can be launched from vehicles, ships, helicopters, or small infantry teams, and integrates seamlessly with modern command-and-control networks.
Dr. Ran Gozali, UVision’s CEO and a former senior executive at Rafael, has steered the company toward global expansion and AI-based autonomy. “The Hero family was built to meet modern warfare needs—agile, precise, and integrated,” he said in a statement emphasizing the system’s flexibility in both conventional and asymmetric operations.
The contract marks a milestone in UVision’s growing relationship with the Pentagon and highlights Israel’s rising influence in the U.S. defense ecosystem. Since opening its American subsidiary in 2019, the company has strategically deepened its presence in U.S. manufacturing and logistics networks, aligning its technology with U.S. operational frameworks and defense standards.
UVision’s partnership with Mistral reflects a broader trend of Israeli-American defense collaboration that blends Israeli innovation with U.S. industrial capacity. The deal also underscores Washington’s increasing reliance on combat-proven loitering munitions as the battlefield evolves toward autonomous, networked, and precision-driven warfare.
As global militaries accelerate the adoption of AI-enabled weaponry, UVision’s open-architecture and modular design approach positions it to remain a dominant player in this field. With proven performance in multiple operational theaters, the Hero 120’s success with the U.S. Army cements UVision’s place among the top innovators shaping the future of loitering munitions and autonomous combat systems.
